About

As an interdisciplinary scholar and educator, I believe in the the power of the humanities to develop creative thinking and problem-solving, collaboration, and global awareness needed to thrive in contemporary reality.

At Columbia University, I taught courses in two different languages, comparative literature and film, and critical theory. In addition to rigorous hands-on training, I obtained the Advanced Teaching Certificate from Columbia’s Center for Teaching and Learning in 2022. Through classroom practice and formal development, I cultivated an evidence-based pedagogy grounded in community-building, integrative learning and inclusivity, and supported students from a variety of academic and personal backgrounds.

From 2018 to 2022, I developed the language curriculum and learning materials for a yearlong course of Elementary Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian. The curriculum is implemented in a shared hybrid classroom at Columbia, Yale, and Cornell, and in person at the University of Chicago.

The syllabus for Thinking Bodies: Literature, Film, and Performance, an undergraduate seminar I designed and taught at Columbia, merited a Teaching Fellowship from Columbia’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in 2020. In recognition of my contribution to their community of learners from non-traditional academic backgrounds, I received the Excellence in Teaching Assistance Award from the General Studies Student Council in 2021. In 2022, I received the Columbia University Presidential Award for Outstanding Teaching.

I hold a B.A. in Comparative Literature and Linguistics from Queen Mary, University of London, and an M.A. in Slavic Languages from Columbia University. I will receive my Ph.D. in Slavic and Comparative Literature from Columbia in October 2022.

As a dedicated lifelong learner, I constantly seek out encounters with the unfamiliar. I often take on writing and research work well outside my areas of specialization, and I have been working remotely across New York, San Francisco, Berlin, and Belgrade.
